Victoria Teatern (Victoriateatern) is a historic and versatile cultural venue nestled in the heart of Malmö, Sweden. Opened on 9 September 1912, this Art Nouveau–style gem by architect Axel Stenberg originally served as one of Malmö's most elegant cinemas—with features like aquariums flanking the proscenium—then shifted through phases as a variety theater and cinema until its 1974 closure threatened its existence . Rescued and lovingly restored, Victoria Teatern now thrives as a multifunctional space (capacity ~190), hosting concerts, theater, film festivals, stand-up comedy, and cultural events. Its intimate “picnic seating” concept allows guests to bring food and drinks, creating a warm, communal atmosphere. A living testament to Malmö’s cultural heritage, Victoria Teatern continues to blend history with vibrant contemporary programming.
